About ADUSEPS ADUSEPS was created 12 years ago by Renê Patriota, a gynecologist with a private practice in Recife north-eastern Brazil. She was actively engaged in community work and saw how poor people were mistreated by the public and private health care services. She decided to start her own association to change the situation. The overall objective of ADUSEPS is to raise awareness, educate and defend the rights of all citizens to live a healthy life. The health concept adopted by ADUSEPS follows the definition of the World Health Organization: “Health is not only the absence of disease or illness, but it also is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being.” The association is supervising the public and private health policies, and while defending the rights of its associates, working so that the laws are carried out.
